brunchThe Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association warmly welcomes those who are new to the neighborhood, and to parenthood, to come and get acquainted!

For more than 2 decades, moms in and around the Preston Hollow neighborhood have formed friendships, playgroups and a strong parenting network thanks to the Preston Hollow's Early Childhood PTA. With more than 100 families, PHECA is dedicated to helping mothers of children ages 0 to 6 get to know one another while enriching the lives of their children.

“I have met so many moms, and both my son and I have made some great friends. I have really enjoyed watching him develop his own friendships and meeting other moms his age,” says Jennifer Steubing, Membership Chair.

“I joined the Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association to get to know other moms when we were new to Dallas.  It was the right move because, all in the "effort" of making friends, I've been on great social outings for both me and my kids, learned tons of useful information from the speakers at our meetings, and gained a sense of community just by getting involved in group activities.  I love being a part of the PHECA!” adds Michele Vicente, Newsletter Editor.

Our membership drive is currently underway, and you do not have to live in the Preston Hollow neighborhood to join. Our monthly meetings are open to all moms in the area. PHECA meets the 4th Monday of each month September to May. (Our October and April meetings, though, will be held at 7 p.m. in a member’s home.)

“As a new mom, or being new to the neighborhood, it’s hard to meet people. It seems like everyone in Preston Hollow goes to different preschools or private schools. Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association is really a great way to meet other moms and kids in the area. Now when I go to the park, or the grocery store, I always run into someone I know!” said Jennifer Bryarly, President of PHECA.

Possibly the biggest reason for becoming a member of PHECA is to meet, socialize and network with other moms in the Preston Hollow area, but here are a few other reasons to join:

Monthly meetings include informative and educational speakers with a strong focus on parenting, family, health and happiness. You’ll also find delicious snacks and time to chat with other moms.
Children’s Activities and Park Meet-Ups
are wonderful opportunities to have fun with other moms and kids in the area.
Playgroups
are set up so moms can meet kids the same age as their own children. These friendships can last a lifetime!
Book Club and Mom’s Night Out
offers a more intimate setting for mothers to get to know one other. These kid-free nights give moms time to recharge with friends and adult conversation.
Monthly Newsletter
helps moms keep up with upcoming events.
Yahoo! Groups
keeps members informed about PHECA sponsored events, referrals (contractors, babysitters and nannies, etc.) and community-wide activities.

Bryarly said, “When I joined this group, the first couple meetings were tough because I didn’t know anyone, but everyone was so friendly and nice. Since we have kids about the same age, it was easy finding things to talk about. We have such a great time together. Our kids have fun too!”

PHECA is affiliated with the state and national PTA but is not associated with any particular school or religious organization. The annual due is $35, which covers state and national PTA dues.
